Born on 29th July, 1967 in the village of Goa Velha in Taluka Tiswadi, Goa. Completed School Education from Sharada Mandir High School, Miramar, Panjim, Goa; B.A. (Hons.) in English Literature from Dhempe College of Arts & Science, and LL.B. Degree from M. S. College of Law, Miramar, Panjim, Goa. Enrolled as an Advocate on the Roll of Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa on 25th August, 1992 and joined the Chamber of Senior Advocate Shri Manohar S. Usgaoncar, Former Additional Solicitor General of India and Former Advocate General of the State of Goa. Practised at the High Court of Bombay at Goa in Civil and Constitutional Law, Labour and Service Law, Environmental Law, Commercial, Tax and Company Laws, Public Interest Litigations and law relating to Portuguese Civil Code. Also practised before the District and Sessions Courts of North and South Goa Districts, Industrial Tribunal and Administrative Tribunal at Goa. Former President and Secretary of the Goa High Court Bar Association. Takes keen interest in Sports and Outdoor activities, specially in Football, Swimming and Martial Arts. An avid reader of History, Natural Science and Social and Cultural Anthropology. Elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay on 19th July, 2022.

Appeared for Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, Insurance Companies like United India Insurance Company Ltd., New India Assurance Company and other private insurance companies. Also represented Indian Radiology and Imaging Association(IRAI), PEPSICO Holdings (India) Ltd. etc. Visited as Faculty at Maharashtra Judicial Academy, Uttan. Elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay on 30th November, 2022.

Justice Amit Satyavan Jamsandekar, a leading commercial law practitioner, has had more than 28 years of experience at the Bar before his elevation on 2nd September 2025. After joining the Bar in 1998 in India, he entered the Rolls of Solicitors of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 2002. Thereafter, has been called to the Bar of England & Wales from Lincoln’s Inn, London. He started his international practice after joining 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square as an International Tenant, a highly reputed Barristers’ Chambers in London. He has earned Bachelor’s degrees in Rural Development and in Law from the Government Law College, University of Mumbai. Thereafter, completed a Master’s degree in Law at Cardiff University, U.K., in 2001, and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Leicester, U.K. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious International Visitors’ Leadership Program 2008 of the Department of State, United States of America. As a lawyer, Justice Amit Jamsandekar held a special focus and interest in Intellectual Property Law in his domestic and international practice. He has litigated cases in India and abroad covering trademarks, patents, copyright, confidential information, geographical indications, arbitration and other commercial laws. He has represented and advised Indian and international clients across several industry verticals: pharmaceuticals, consumer packaged goods, media & entertainment, sports, food & beverages, manufacturing, telecommunications, information technology, software, defence, banking & financial services, industrial chemicals, cement, and steel etc. As part of his international practice, he has provided written opinions on cross-border litigation strategies and on complex software development and maintenance agreements, IP due diligence, valuation reports for acquisition and joint-venture exploitation, licensing arrangements, broadcasting, performer and moral rights, amongst others. He has also served as an arbitrator and appeared as counsel in domestic and international arbitrations governed by the Rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Dubai International Financial Centre. On the academic side, he has designed and taught Intellectual Property courses at renowned educational institutions across India, including the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. He has also extensively lectured students in educational institutions, including the Goa Institute of Management, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, the Government Law College, Mumbai etc. He has presented papers at Leicester University, U.K., Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, Geneva. His academic writings on complex issues in intellectual property law have been published in the European Intellectual Property Review (Sweet & Maxwell) and the Communications Law Journal. He has also served as a referee for the Journal of Intellectual Property Rights published by the National Institute of Science Communication & Information Resources. He has a keen interest in cooking, fishing and agriculture. He works closely with farmers in Sindhudurg district to help preserve and advance indigenous farming techniques, seeds and cooking recipes.
